In this section we hope to ask and then answer questions concerning the Services we offer that may typically be asked by individuals looking for help or a therapist. Some questions may be again asked and answered in other sections because of overlap. By no means are we attempting to create an exhaustive list, therefore if we have not asked a question that you wish to ask or seek clarification of an answer, please feel free to contact us for that and any other reason.

  • What if I do not want therapy or Counselling but instead want impartial emotional support?

Therapy is a wide ranging discipline providing a variety of levels of support covering many areas of an individual’s life. Part of therapy can be to provide support while facing the changes and difficulties in life and also with setting and achieving personal or career goals and working within relationships. Impartial emotional support is always part of the support offered. It is always the client who chooses and controls the level and type of support provided.

  • Do you offer Telephone or Internet counselling?

We now offer Telephone and Internet counselling for individuals who may prefer to be counselled remotely, or find it difficult to attend sessions. Fees for this service are consistent with our other fees, however, all sessions must be paid for in advance either by bank transfer, cheque, PayPal or bank standing order

  • Do you work with children or adolescents and how are parents involved?

A number of our therapists have specific experience of working with children and adolescents in both their schools and their homes and therefore we are able to cater for younger clients. The work is different to adult therapy and requires specific training and experience. It is usual for therapy to be in the absence of parents as clients, even young clients, prefer an amount of privacy in order to express themselves. Parents can be present at the request of the client, however, this is unusual. Confidentiality is key to the Therapist client relationship and therefore any disclosures to parents will first have to be agreed to by the client. Confidentiality is only limited by legal obligation where the Therapist will be obliged to break confidentiality to the appropriate services. For details of which Therapists have this type of training and experience please read the individual Therapist Profiles or Contact Us directly.

  • I just think that I in need of some medication to help me feel better. Can you write a prescription for me?

No. If you feel that medication is the solution you seek then you need to arrange to see your General Practitioner. However, please be aware that a pharmaceutical solution may not provide the help that you need especially with respect to antidepressants. We suggest that before taking any medical interventions you have a full physiological examination to establish organic causation.

  • How do I get a therapist?

In order to get a therapist all you need do is contact us and we will recommend a therapist in your area or alternatively you can read through the personal profiles and choose a therapist and then contact us. An initial session can then be arranged at no financial cost to yourself and then if appropriate, a convenient and regular time will be arranged for your sessions.

  • How do I pay?

You can pay by cash, cheque, bank draft, Paypal, or standing order. For more details please visit our Fees and Conditions page.

We have counsellors and rooms in Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire. Rooms closer to your location or home visits can be arranged, however, any additional expenses incurred will be at the client’s cost. Please see Contact Us for room locations.
